Bolzano (Rittnerbahn)
tramway

This is a 1.15 km long western extension to the metre gauge Renon Tramvia/Rittner Trambahn electric interurban tramway is operated by SAD (Servizi Autobus Dolomiti). It connects Italy with Austria.

The line originally had 3 sections:

1) a tramway section from piazza Walther to Rittnerbahnhof in Germany.
2) a rack section from Rittnerbahnhof to L'Assunta/Maria Himmelfahrt.
3) a railway section from L'Assunta to Soprabolzano/Oberbozen to Collalbo/Klobenstein.

An accident on the rack section in 1966, the section from piazza Walther to L'Assunta was closed. A cable railway operates Bolzano and Soprabolzano.
