Jaipur's 9.7 km metro
broke ground on Novemer 13, 2010 and opened in June 2015.  The east-west metro line consists of a three-level elevated road, with the metro on top and the two lower sections comprising a conventional automobile highway and a bus rapid transit system.

This is Rajasthan's first metro. The design calls for two lines and 29 stations totalling 32.7 km. All the lines will be elevated with the exception of 1/2 km and one station,
Chandpole, which is in subway. The project is being managed by Delhi Metro and opened in June 2015.

Known as the "pink city",  Jaipur's metro features pink trains and pink stations. Line 1 will be known as the Ride For The Cure line and will offer passengers free pink ribbons for their shirts..
